Actuator alert
Reservoir has detected an issue with one of the electric elements in your system, or is having communication issues with one of the electric elements.
In most cases, this alert appears rarely and resolves immediately. If it appears more than once or persists for more than a few minutes, contact Reservoir support at 617-249-3048 or support@reservoirhome.com.
Tank protection alert
Reservoir has detected an issue with its ability to protect its own tank from corrosion.
If you see this, contact Reservoir support at 617-249-3048 or support@reservoirhome.com to assess the problem. You may need a service call to replace an anode rod or fix something else in the system.
Condensate leak alert
Reservoir has detected a problem in the condensate pump or drain system. You will continue to have hot water, but the system will not use the heat pump when this alert is present.
Check for water in the pan under Reservoir, or if the condensate pump light is off or orange. If so, contact Reservoir support at 617-249-3048 or support@reservoirhome.com.
Pressure balance alert
Reservoir has detected a problem with your expansion tank.
If you do not have an expansion tank and recently made changes to your plumbing, you may need one added. If you have an expansion tank already, it has likely failed. This can result in damage to your Reservoir or house plumbing. Reservoir support can help you diagnose this issue.. Please contact 617-249-3048 or support@reservoirhome.com.
Freeze risk alert
Reservoir has detected that your input water temperature is approaching freezing.
Run recirculation and freeze check a few times to ensure the alert is still appearing. In general, Reservoir detects input temperature across the main recirculation branch and the input line, which varies by house layout. Consider opening the faucets throughout your house and making sure you have flow at each tap, and/or leave each tap dripping.
Pressure alert
Reservoir has detected an issue with your input water pressure.
Typically, this means the pressure is too high. This is not uncommon in the Boston metro.
High supply pressure can cause long term damage to your Reservoir and home if not addressed. MA Plumbing Code requires a pressure-reducing valve (PRV) if your pressure is above 80 PSI.
We strongly recommend you get a PRV installed in your home. Reservoir warranty does not cover failures caused by high pressure (>80 PSI).

High temperature alert
Reservoir has detected that water is leaving your system at a higher temperature than what you specified. The default alert threshold is 130 F.
There are multiple actions you can take:
- If you are fine with your water temperature as-is, increase the alert temperature or turn off the alert.
- If you want hotter water, increase the temperature alert and mixing valve.
- If you want cooler water, turn down the mixing valve.
- If you have children, elderly, or sensitive populations in your house, consider lowering the mixing valve and alert temperature overall.
Sensor alert
Reservoir has detected an issue with a sensor in your system reading invalid data or unable to communicate.
In most cases, this alert appears rarely and resolves immediately.
If it appears more than once or persists for more than a few minutes, contact Reservoir support at 617-249-3048 or support@reservoirhome.com.
System leak alert
Reservoir has detected a leak somewhere in your hot water piping system in your home.
This is usually unrelated to your Reservoir, and is a problem downstream in your hot water piping or fixtures.
The system will retry later automatically to see if the issue persists. If it does, first check for any dripping faucets in your house. If there is not, you likely have a leak somewhere else.
- The system leak check runs in the middle of the night to avoid accidental leak detections. A light night dishwasher run, or hot water use can appear as a leak.
You can manually run a leak check in the mobile app. Go to settings, then press “Run→” One-time leak check.

Water heater leak alert
Reservoir has detected water in its own pan or has an internal leak.
The system will stop heating. If you have automatic shutoff enabled, the unit will also turn off hot water to your house. This is to limit water damage.
We recommend contacting Reservoir support at 617-249-3048 or support@reservoirhome.com as soon as possible.
Do not re-enable the unit until you have confirmed the leak is fixed, and do not allow the unit to heat with the valve closed.
Offline alert
Your Reservoir has been offline for an hour.
This can be caused by spotty wifi, or trouble with wifi reaching the unit. If this is the cause, we recommend getting a Wi-Fi repeater, or updating your Wi-Fi router to reach the unit to enable all the features of Reservoir.
If you receive this alert and there is no proximate cause (Wi-Fi reset, internet or power outage, etc.), confirm that the unit is working. If it is, no further action needed. If no, contact Reservoir support at 617-249-3048 or support@reservoirhome.com.
You may also try power cycling the unit to see if it addresses the problem.
